Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Anxiety seems to be a commonly used term in our 21st century living and can be described in a wide range of ways. According to many, their anxiety can be anything from concern over trivial issues to debilitating, life-altering worry. And everything in between.
I don’t know about you but the last few weeks have me reassessing the significance over what I previously worried. Homework for my kids. When to return to work. Home budget. Summer vacation. Which spring sports would get our participation.
Isn’t it funny how a truly significant event can shift your mindset? I can assure you I haven’t given one thought to those items that were taking up brain space mere weeks ago.
Regardless of deemed significance, God instructs us to cast all our anxiety on Him. Not some. Not what we decide are the ‘real’ worries. He calls us to take ALL worry and concern to Him. The second half of the verse speaks to the heart of our God and reminds us why He wants us to come to Him.
Because he cares for you.
You. Me. Us. He cares for each of us. He knows our heart and our concerns. Sharing these anxieties with Him allows us to pass this burden over to One who can handle it.
Whether it’s worry about how to get your children to stop their sibling disputes or something severe like facing a terminal diagnosis, we are to take all our anxiety to God.
Challenge- Whether you believe it to be trivial or significant, work to catch yourself in your worry today. With each concern, stop to pray and ask God to take the anxiety from you.
Lord, You know our hearts and care about what concerns us. Help us to remember to take every worry to You rather than allowing anxiety to creep in and take up residence in our heart and mind.
