Moms are rarely in candid shots since we’re normally the ones behind the camera in those moments. Matt snapped this one last week and I was so thankful.
This is my favorite spot. Our home has no hiding place and sometimes we all need a hiding place. So I steal away to these chairs on our patio.
Despite living in a neighborhood, our backyard is really quite peaceful. I am unfortunately not a napper but have fallen asleep on those red cushions more than once.
Last Sunday brought two funerals in the same funeral home in our little hometown. Side by side. One room for the precious 97 year old grandmother of my best friend. This woman I adored. She lived a life fuller than any three people. The other room for a young mother whose loving family I’ve known for decades. Her life cut way too short.
Some days, the irony and complexity and inequality and beauty and gravity and joy of life is overwhelming and inspiring and revealing and piercing.
On those days, I find it best to sneak away and just sit. Sometimes a five year old wants to join in the contemplation. ❤️
Where do you find your solace? Do you have a favorite spot?
Come to our house. Screened in back porch facing the woods… mounted tv if you like… cushy cushions for naps, (which is one of my fave habits)!
That sounds absolutely perfect 😉. If you find me asleep, just wake me.
